In 2001 the Canon EOS-1D was the choice camera to be had. It was a breakthrough SLR for many reasons. It was widely respected for its speed, image quality, focusing system, large ISO range, and bigger sensor with fewer pixels (resulting in less digital noise). In 2008 the Nikon D3 was hailed as being a revolutionary D-SLR, having the greatest speed, image quality, focusing system, ISO range, and amazingly efficient full-frame sensor for low light photography. Wow what a coincidence? I think not.
